about

Yair Etziony released Albion in 2015; it was his last release before leaving Tel Aviv to Berlin. Back at the time the album gained some excellent reviews, and was praised for its ability to fuse Krautrock and early 90’s electronica to one coherent piece. Albion was 3rd part of “Mist in the corners” trilogy by Yair Etziony, and the oldest known name of the British islands. It followed some musical ideas that were started with Krautrock in 70s and was later manifested in the United Kingdom during the 80s and 90s. A couple of years forward Etziony decided to release an EP with some appropriate remixes. He asked two artists who influenced his sound and aesthetic approach to music.

Philadelphian artist and electronic music pioneer is King Britt here he produces a remix under his Fhloston Paradigm moniker. Both his albums “The Phoenix” and “after..” were really loved here. For this EP he turns the original “Never Again” into a sci-fi inspired remix, one that fuses the powers of the Berlin school of electronic music with Detroit techno most deepest spirit.

Next remix comes from one of the symbols of the new Berlin school; Alec Empire (AKA “The Destroyer”) from Atari Teenage Riot\DHR and Mille Plateaux fame. Alec’s latest release “Volt” was really loved here at the FIHQ and we are very excited to see him remix a tune for us. He delivers a rough dub step or slow drum & bass version of the ominous “Imperium Romanum”. Giving it some of the raw energy he is known for.
Third remix comes from our dear friend: Maps and Diagrams. Tim Martin who already appeared on False Industries in the past, transforms “Nightwatcher” into a slow new age ambient tune, reminiscent of 90s chill out rooms, trust us when we say it’s a deep dive.

Last but no least is the Berliner composer Daniela Orvin, for her remix of the track “Avalon” she adds lush strings and swells that brings to mind 4AD’s “This mortal coil”. The bitter sweat arpeggios of the original are treated with lovely strings arrangement, pure bliss.
